I was playing with blender to learn to add procedural textures. It looks like a quick way to transform basic shapes into nice looking objects.
Here, I changed a sphere shape into an kind of asteroid, applied cell fracture plugin on it and moved its parts with a force field. For the texture, it is only random noise fed into in orange-brown gradient. Micro bumps are also made with random noise on the normal shader. There is also one white light next to the camera to show the blocks and a [complementary color] blue point light in the middle of the "explosion".
