Oscar the Bird King - Vashon Island, Washington

Oscar the Bird King is a wooden troll built in the summer of 2023 by Thomas Dambo and volunteers as part of a public art project titled “Northwest Trolls: The Way of the Bird King”. Oscar is located in Point Robinson Park on Vashon Island, west of Seattle, Washington. Oscar was built using recycled materials (mostly wooden pallets) and is one of six wooden trolls built in the Pacific Northwest as part of an environmental story connecting Coast Salish tribal communities and Scandinavian traditions. Oscar sits twenty feet high while seated on a throne and wearing a colossal crown made entirely of wooden birdhouses. Oscar, and all of the other Northwest Trolls stand as a reminder of our responsibility to protect the planet and foster community engagement. Photo taken with a Fujifilm 3D Camera on July 23, 2026
