If witnessing paroxysms is an unforgettable experience, the Sicilian experience will not have offered the equally grandiose one of a lava flow becoming river. Having noticed from the place of the previous slide show black smoke indicating that a lava flow was burning a banana plantation close to the coast, we decided to join the port of Tazacorte in the hope of attending the phenomenal spectacle of the entry of the lava in the ocean. We were even lucky enough to be there when the lava started to flow down the cliff.
