Bavarian King at Checkpoint

by Kameramann19 2020-03-15 16:12:07

Here is another try with Blender and stereoscopic rendering. The Bavarian King is a 3D mesh generated by structure from motion and placed in front of the selfie photographers at Checkpoint Charly. It is not a composite photograph.

As feedback on this series was requested in another description, I can comment that in this photo, the Bavarian king is hovering above the street.

As Kameramann19 explained me by email, this image was rendered in two passes, one with the left photo on the background plane and one with the right photo. It was rendered with the stereo camera of blender, and he selected the image of the left camera with the left photo and of the right camera with the right photo.

SFM Structure from Motion is the process generating a mesh (obj, stl, a.o) from photographs. I did this with the king, a tourists souvenir approx. 15 cm high. The stereogram (selfie people) is used as image texture for the appearance of a plane in the model. Than I do stereoscopic rendering with Cycle Render in Blender 2.8. Camera, light setting and alpha channel generation (used in the aircraft image) can't be explained in detail here.

I don't understand the "not composite photograph" part

"It is not a composite photograph" <= Does it mean that this image is rendered as is directly by blender, or did you export the 3D model with transparent background to add it on the stereophoto?
